Search hotels (replace link)The Kumano Kodo is a network of pilgrimage routes to the three grand shrines, the most popular being the Nakahechi. Walking it all takes days, but the ~7 km Hosshinmon-oji to Hongu section is beginner-friendly and lets you experience the ancient trail in half a day.
After walking, soak in the World Heritage Tsuboyu bath at Yunomine Onsen. In Nachi, don't miss the 133 m Nachi Falls framed by the vermilion shrine and the pagoda of Seiganto-ji.
Short sections like Hosshinmon-oji to Hongu are popular with beginners. Bring good shoes and water.
